Question Hello! Cladosporiium and another non flower mold was identified to be in my flexible air duct system connected to my interior furnace (heat pump).
Since the duct work is contaminated I am planning to install a UV light in the furnace and want to know whether I should install new metal or fiberglass ducts vs having them cleaned?
P.S. I also have another mold growing in my lungs and I am having respiratory systems so this is an important home improvement for me now.
Answer Duct cleaning in flexible ducts is no good. Probably will tear them up with that plastic tube. Metal ducts are the best but nowdays very expensive. How about just replacing the flex ducts ?? Use 1 1/2" insulation ducts this time. Get a good UV lamp installed.
