Question I replacing old Comfortmaker thermostat to Honeywell RTH230B. My old thermostat have following wires: W1-red and white, C-white, G-green, E-red, R-red, Y-yellow, )-orange. New thermostat have only Rh, Rc, W,Y,G. Please tell me how should I connect them. Thank you.
Answer If this is a heat pump, this is not the correct thermostat. If it is not a heat pump it will connect as follows:
Rc and Rh to the red now on R.
W to the red and white now on W 1.
Y to the yellow now on Y.
G to the green now on G.
Cap off unused wires individually so they do not contact other wires. Thanks J
