Heating, Air Conditioning, Fridge, HVAC - Condensation pan shut off

Expert: Howard Livingston - 6/14/2009

Question
Our AC shut off because the condensation pan was full. I emptied the pan, found and (hopefully) fixed a leak in the coil. However, the unit will not come back on. Is there a switch that needs to be reset since the pan was full and the emergency shut off was activated?

Answer
You have an emergency float switch on the drain line ??? Either that or a condensate pump are the only things that can shut off the system.Maybe you broke a low voltage wire fixing the coil if neither of these exist. No doubt it is a control circuit failure. Need to trace it out. You had a leak in the evaporator coil ??? If it was a small one there is some stuff to inject in the system that will stop the leak.
