Question I'm leasing a home that has a GE Profile Arctica fridge/top freezer (and the home is a friend's so I don't mind doing the legwork to diagnose the problem). I noticed a few weeks ago, there were drops of water that had frozen off on the top of the inside of the freezer on the vent covers. My landlord told me that GE had already replaced the motherboard because of the known issues with it. When I Google the problem, many suggested that it was from having the freezer open for too long and/or high humidity getting in. I defrosted the freezer by using jumper wires on the MB, wiped everything down and within a week, they were back. Now today, I noticed a loud, deep buzzing noise that only goes away when I put the freezer down to 0 or unplug it. When I turn it back up or plug it back in, it's quiet for a couple minutes, but then starts again and doesn't stop. It's coming from the upper back in the middle of the freezer.
The model number is PST22LBMARBB. I usually do a lot of appliance repair myself and this one is annoying me because I JUST went shopping this afternoon (noise started this morning) and I'm afraid of losing all my food. Its still staying cold and you can see the cold air coming out the vent when you open the door. I'll be taking the back off to see if the fan is frozen or not running at all, but I just wanted to get a more professional opinion before I get overly aggravated. I have a backup fridge to use in the meantime (IF ours still works).
