Heating, Air Conditioning, Fridge, HVAC - Kenmore refigerator freezer unit not drain

Expert: Eric Campion - 6/7/2009

Question
Kemmore refigerator top freezer model number 78202891 makes
ice under the slide out tray in freezer unit. Drain stops up. I know how to open drain tube, and remove ice.
Need know how prevent the problem from happening.
Appreciate it. Raleigh

Answer
Try wrapping a piece 14-2 copper wire (Household stripped of all insulation)around the heater and then into the drain hole.  Unblocked drain and pour very hot water down the drain to get rid of all the scum built up deep inside the drain line.  Once installed, every time the heaters come on the heat will radiate down the copper wire and melt an opening in the drain if blocked again.  Let me know if this works.
