Question Hi, I recently moved into a condo and love it except for issues I have with fridge noise (4 year old Inglis frost-free model). Whenever the cycle powers up (3 times per hour), it buzzes VERY loudly for about 2-3 minutes, then gradually reduces to a low hum then shuts off. This all repeats itself 20 minutes later.
As my living room is right next to kitchen the buzzing is distractingly loud and competes with TV/stereo. Fridge works great otherwise, its just the noise issue. I felt the condenser coils and they are not vibrating a lot, I did move the fridge away from the wall and then back again while painting kitchen - is it possible I dislodged compressor somehow and that's the cause of the noise?
I don't mind a quiet hum/buzz as that's normal, but this is super loud and driving me nuts. Any advice you might be able to give me is appreciated. Thanks!
Answer Buzzing can be as serious as the compressor starting to got out.....or as simple as a high pressure freon line underneath the unit vibrating. THe rear condenser coils are normally far enough away from the rear of the unit that they don't casue a problem. Check the lines closer to the compressor. Let em know what you find....Eric Campion
