Heating, Air Conditioning, Fridge, HVAC - SWAMPED PACKAGE UNIT

Question
Hi there!  I probably have a wild question, but I'm looking at 2 International Comfort Package units:  PGAA60G1K8 (5 Ton) and PGS090H224AA (7 1/2 Ton)  that have been completely swamped in a flood.  These units were sitting in anticipation of being installed, but have NEVER been installed.  They were not swamped for long.  My question, Is there any potential problems that you can think of that should prevent me from purchasing these units?  I might also mention that these units are a screaming deal price wise...and I'm sure that the reason the fella is selling is because his insurance already replaced them.  I'm not sure what these units usually cost, and am not exactly sure of the year of manufacture.  Any info that you could give me would be extremely helpful. Thanks so much!  Marcos Figueroa

Answer
Look at the serial number for a year date in it. Like 184702432. See the 02 ?? I'd think if they are only several years old it may be a good deal. The trouble would be in the motors with silt. The electrical stuff to look out for would be the contactors loaded with mud or silt. Look at the compressors wires at the compressors too. These cases have insulation here & there & bet its all gone. It is needed in places to prevent condensation. About all I can think of to check. Fron system all sealed.A 5 ton package unit with heaat would be a pretty expensive thing, say $2500 to 3000.
