QUESTION: thanks for the help.  I looked at the attachement and the piston and nut assembly.  Everything seemed to be in order there. I did take off the drain guard and look down there and found a straw and a Black washer...looks like its made of carbon fiber....about 5/8 - 3/4 of an inch.  not sure if its from the dish washer.

Anyway, the problem still happens.  When you start a cycle it goes for about 2 minutes then the error arrives..when you restart it, its goes for about a minute and then errors again...it will do this the entire cycle...

thanks again.

Answer
First test I need you to do is take a hair dryer and dry the hub where the spray arm is attached around the hole you said is there.  Get some duct tape and for testing purpose only, wrap a complete revolution around so the tape attaches to itself, covering the hole.  NExt...read through some of my notes about this problem.  The strange spray arm was call "Epicyclic" I think. Anyway it works like an random orbital sander. The spray arm hub turns off center from the real center. As it rotates it walks around the gear & makes the spray arm not to be spraying water in exactly the same place each revolution. Hand spin yours & watch it move like a Spirograph. Anyway make sure the arm spins easy & coasts. Let the dishwasher fill & start washing & then open the door & remember where the spray arm is, then restart it & reopen it & see if it moves. Sometimes these spray arms tilt & jam against the rack or just bind up. Make sure the seam isn't split & the holes aren't clogged or worn open too big or it will tilt. Make sure the hub shaft bushings didn't get lost.  Check the plastic ring seal #545 & the teflon seal #561 List in the look-up any where on-line under your model number.  Also see if the lower rack rollers are all there or the rack can drop closer to the spray arm & stall it. The spray arm has a magnet in the tip of one end (you can feel it stick to a screwdriver tip). The board is looking for a minimum number of counts from it passing by the sensor & it will behave. If it doesn't move or moves but too slow it will think it is blocked.  Check the sensor connector & mounting on the right side lower tub area.  Probably buried in the sagging fiberglass insulation in your way. Also see if the big 9 or 12? pin connector for the harness at the tub front is plugged in fully. Maybe yours has a broken wire in the door folding area? Last place I would try is to wiggle the plugs at the control board in the console area as a last resort. I think that board costs more than a new dishwasher now. If I remember when a code flashed if you push start again, it will ignore the code for the rest of that complete cycle until the next time it is restarted. Need to decide if it is the spray arm not moving right past the sensor or if it is an electronic problem?

Waiting to hear from you,
Eric Campion
