Question Hi, We got this Carrrier Furnace 58XTS070 last year when it
was installed in downflow format.
We are now looking for it to be placed in attic
horizontally.
Question 1. Our contractor is asking for coils for
horizontal installation claiming that he will need new set
of coils since it is not downflow installation. Is it
correct that if the furnace venting changes then it requires
different type of coils?
Question 2. Could he have used same coils if he was doing
downflow venting?
Question 3. How much does the coil costs?
Answer I presume the furnace is electric heat ?? The coil drain pan & drain lines is the problem. I don't know whether the down flow coil can be adapted to horizontil or not. May be too much to have to do. Coil costs dependon the tonnage. A 3 ton horizontil cost about $ 350
