Heating, Air Conditioning, Fridge, HVAC - My Comfortmaker Central Air Unit Not Working

Expert: Craig HVAC Expert - 7/8/2009

Question
My central air unit just stopped blowing air thru the vents. when I set the thermostat to low you can hear the unti click on and I feel the water running thru the copper tubing attached to the unit.. but no air blows thru the vents. I changed the filter which was long over-do and even ran a water/bleach combu thru the tubes to clean out any build up. But still nothing works.   Any ideas on what could be the problem.

Answer
I do not think the noise you are hearing is water, is it more likely refrigerant. It is possible that it is water if you have a water source unit.   With the cool/heat set to off, turn the fan to on.  Check to see if the fan is working.  The problem can be the fan motor, run cap, control board or relay causing the problem.  It is also possible to have the coil completely frozen, which will stop the air flow, but the fan will be turning.
