Heating, Air Conditioning, Fridge, HVAC - Freon cost $185.60

Question
Hello

In addition to the big annual check up fee I was charged $185.oo for four pound of Freon.  The system is three years old.  Would this be correct.  I have had no leaks that I would be aware of.

Answer
If you have a 3 yr. old system that needs 4 lbs. of freon, you have a leak. The technician should have let you know this and quoted you a price to leak check the system. If it is the same company that installed the system and they find a leak at a joint that was soldered or brazed for the installation, you should not be charged.
