Heating, Air Conditioning, Fridge, HVAC - ac drip at vent

Expert: Norval Trimborn - 7/5/2009

Question
in an upstairs closet the vent is dripping.  There is an attic access panel in that closet.  I live in FL and it is HOT.  Do you think there is a problem with the duct (3 years old) or should I insulate the ceiling drop panel?  The closet is 6x8.

Answer
You should check the whole duct branch to the register outlet to see if moisture is accumulating in the ductwork then coming through the register outlet. Make sure that the insulation is in place for the whole branch and in good shape with no tears or holes in it.
