QUESTION: My home ac unit only blows one speed, and the ac air flow is week. I can't figure out how to get a higher speed out of the blower. When i turn it to heat the blower runs the same speed. I need to speed up the motor to blow more air. The unit is a squirrel cage unit in a hall closet.

ANSWER: What kind of unit do you have.  The model number of the air handler is needed.

QUESTION: GE Ambassador mark 2.model #LU-F

Answer
I was unable to find much about this unit.  Due to the age, it is possible, the unit only has one speed.  If you open up the cover with the power turned off, there might be different colored wires coming off the motor.  Depending on how many speeds, there might be more then one or two wires isolated.  The motor should have a diagram on it to say which is what, or you can try to swap out the wires to see if the speed increases.  Be careful though, if you swap out the wrong ones, you will burn up the motor. Here is some food for thought.  The problem may not actally be with the motor.  You might actually have some sort of air restriction.  Make sure the filter(s) are clean and the evap coil is not plugged up.
