Question
Goodman unit, 4 years old. Stopped cooling upstairs, however I feel air going into the intake. The fan on the unit outside does not turn on. I put my ear by the unit and can hear a hum. Read your advice, checked the capacitor. looks slightly puffy with a black spot located between the common and fan connections on the top. I changed the capacitor. No effect. I did a continuity test on the fuses, checked out. I checked all breakers, none tripped. Hum from unit stays on when disconnect is pulled. Shuts off when breaker is shut off. Also the intake air continues even though i have set the thermostat to off.
thats about it, good use the help i have a asthmatic 4 year old and it will bee 100 here Sunday
thanks
Bob

Answer
Bob,
If you have a split system your not specifying inside unit or outside unit?
You talk about intake air? what about outlet air? there is more then one breaker.
I don't know about intake air being on when the thermostat is off?
Can you be more specific?"
