Heating, Air Conditioning, Fridge, HVAC/KitchenAid ice maker

Question
Eric,

Thank you for taking the time to help. I have a KitchenAid KSRP25FNSS00 with a non-working ice maker. The water in the door works fine. All of the trouble shooting I have read so far starts with the optical sensor. When I open the freezer door, the red light on the right flashes twice, stops, then flashes again. When I simulate a closed freezer door by depressing the flap on the left, the light continues the same pattern. This is where I have not been able to find a solution because all of the problems I have read have a red light that becomes steady red when the flap on the left is depressed. Can you help me from here? Thank you.

Answer
Open the freezer door and the red LED should flash 2 times and then repeatedly the same.  Now, press in the freezer door light switch and tell me what happens.....then press in the emitter door on the left side  being careful not to block the beam.  What happens now?

Waiting to hear from you,
Eric and Ann Campion
