Question
I have a lennox furnace model c16 28w 1ff  it doesn't want to kick on but it has like this air intake "flapper" on the front of the unit and If I manually move it slightly, it will immediately fire and work. what is this and how can I troubleshoot it? thanks

Answer
David,

Not to familiar with lennox found this on the internet. This furnace has the damper door that opens at the beginning of the cycle. Once it's fully open it makes an end switch. After this switch is made power is then sent to the module to start ignition. Can you check for 24 volt power at the ignition module next time this happens. Check from the TH terminal to TR. If you have 24 volts but nothing is happening, replace the ignition module. If no voltage present on a call for heat, may be the damper door end switch or problems with the BCC2-2 control board. Also C16 series says it's A/C  G16 is the furnace. Make sure power vent motor is running after a call for heat.Providing all your limit switches are not tripped ,your ventor/power vent motor should be the first thing to start then it should close a air switch.

The air flapper on a Lennox G-14 model furnace is connected to a gasket at the bottom of the air intake assembly. The air flapper helps control the air pressure within the furnace when it is being used. If the part becomes cracked or broken in any way, it will affect the performance of the ignitor in the furnace. You can replace a broken air flapper part at any time, and the new part can be ordered from Lennox.
