Question
QUESTION: I made the mistake of pulling the plug on my humidifier instead of first turning it off and then unplugging it.  Now it will not turn back on.

What could be wrong with it?

ANSWER: That should not have made a difference.  Are you sure the bucket is seated firmly and making contact with the bucket switch?  Check this and let us know what you find.

QUESTION: It is not the bucket being seated firmly.

The instruction manual point blank says NOT to pull the plug beforfe FIRSt turning the dehumidifier off.

Nothing else happened.

Could I fix this or should I just buy a new dehumidifier?

Answer
Quite frankly, after 36 years repairing, I cannot think on one reason why the unit would break if you unplug the unit from the wall rather than turning it off at the switch.  What is the brand and model number of your  unit?  Let me take a closer look at it.
