Question
QUESTION: Hi,
My fridge is not staying cold now.  Previous to this the fridge was freezing things in the crisper and then started to make noises.  No the lights and fan work but the fridge is warm.

Any ideas what may be wrong with it?

Thanks

ANSWER: Pull the unit away from the wall and then remove the rear lower cover.  Can you verify the compressor is really running?

QUESTION: Hello,
Thank you for the answer.
The freezer works fine, it is only the fridge not staying cold.
Pulled everything out of the freezer and there was some icing up at the back at the lower vent holes.  Have it unplugged to thaw.
Could it be the auto defrost switch?
Thanks

ANSWER: Hello Yvonne,
If you have frost building up in the freezer section, you have a defrost timer.  One of three components are defective on your particular unit.  The defrost timer, defrost heat or defrost terminator.  Unplugging it allowing it to defrost will solve the problem only temporarily.  The frost will come back and block the evaporator thus restricting air flow into the refrigerator section.  Do you have a voltage meter and know how to use it?

Answer
Remove the rear inside freezer panel and then remove the wires going to the defrost heater.  Check this item for continuity.  Do you have continuity?
