Question
Marcus,
Do you need to replace the refrigerant lines when you change out your ac . I'm getting different answers. I appreciate any help.

Answer
Mark,
You don't necessarily have to change out your refrigerant line set . Current R 410 systems use a different oil than older R 22 system . The different oils are not compatible . Because of this your contractor will need to flush the system with a solvent that is designed to clean the line set . If your system is an R 410 system this isn't required ( although still recommend ). Often if you are installing a more efficient system the size of the refrigerant line set may have to be larger to achieve full efficiency & capacity of new system so replacement would be required .
