Heating, Air Conditioning, Fridge, HVAC/A/C not working

Our central air has stopped cooling at first it would freeze over and we would defrost it then cut it on and it would run fine until it froze up again. Then it stopped cooling at all but the fan still ran. We bought a new capacitor and installed it. The ac kicked on within seconds but five minutes later its off again and now nothing is working, not even the fan. The ac is from 2005.What should we try next? Cant afford an to bring ac guy out here. Please help.

Coil freezing over is an indication of low on charge,or plugged air filter or plugged indoor coil or lack of good air flow across the indoor coil. To many registers closed.Return grille blocked. At face value it sounds like you have a leak, now that it's not running ,may indicate your unit tripped on a low pressure switch. Certainly you can check to make sure the breaker did not trip. To me it's time to call for service
