Heating, Air Conditioning, Fridge, HVAC/unusual frost build-up in Amana refrig/freeze
We have an Amana TX21R2L Top Freezer/Refrigerator which is about 25 years old and has worked reliably. About 4 days ago I awoke in the morning to find the interior was wet and obviously had defrosted overnight. I thought the compressor had failed. But in any case I pulled it forward, got the rear panel off the lower edge and dusted out the coils/fan etc. Then plugged it in again and the compressor came on and over the next 3 days it has again cooled down to the typical levels we expect.
The only unusual thing though is that there is a surface build-up of frost/ice droplets on the freezer ceiling and backwall.
I wonder whether this may just be the result of the earlier overnight defrosting which resulted in excess humidity internally and over time this will dissipate OR is their another reason why this frost is continuing?
It was not clear what caused the original total defrosting (didn't notice either door ajar when first discovered).
If you have any suggestions I would be most appreciative.
I am an Allexpert volunteer in the category Chrysler Repair. You have sold us motors for our washer and drier in the past and value your business.
RUn a hair dryer for about 10 minutes totally around the entire freezer door gasket to soften it. Once warm and soft, close the door for several hours allowing the door gasket to re-seat.... Rid yourself of all the ice droplets and a dry freezer section. Allow to run for 24 hours nd let us know what the results were...
Waiting to hear from you,
Eric and Ann Campion
