Heating, Air Conditioning, Fridge, HVAC/Ice at bottom of frost-free freezer

Question
Recently there's been ice forming at the bottom of the freezer of my 1997 Frigidaire frostfree fridge. I remove the sheet of ice but the next day it forms again. Other than that, the fridge seems to run okay.  Should I call in the repairman, try to fix it myself or buy a new refrigerator?

Thanks and regards,

Answer
phyllis, is this a side by side, or a top freezer? If it's a side by side, the drain is probably clogged, that's where the defrost water drains into a pan under the refrigerator. Remove everything in the freezer section, unplug the refrigerator. Remove the rear cover of the freezer. Get a blow dryer and melt the ice in the pan under the cooling coils, until you can pour water into the pan and it drains. Some models have a tube under the refrigerator that runs to the drain pan, it could be clogged. Mike
