Question Bill i bought a 4 ton rudd unit a c and heater 11 months ago .the unit has to run between 1 to 2 hrs before it will cycle off for 15 to 20 min then comes back on it follows this pattern till nighttime then runs good they have replaced the evaporator coil with a coil that has an adjustable expansion valve that still did not help now they are going to install a 5 ton trane outside unit but not the inside unit i would like to know if this can be done its not costing me any money the company is trying to fix the promblem my house is 2200sq ft two story
Answer When the unit has to run that long, until night time, I would think it is undersized. They all ready put in a coil that should work. The 5 ton unit will let it run less time, before shutting off and re-cycling. They are on the right track. I give them credit for trying to fix the problem. To many outfits, blame other things, instead of fixing the problem.
