But having much difficulty getting the housing out that the existing fan is housed in.We've pryed around the sides (square shaped)there still appears to be something holding it. We do not have access through the attic?
any help suggestions is greatly appreciated!
Thanking you in advance
Answer Kay,
There are different ways that bathroom fans are mounted to the structure, all depending on type and manufacture.
If the fan was originally installed when the house was built the housing of the fan was nailed to the ceiling joists on both sides.
There are two mounting brackets that connect to the housing and go from the housing to the joist, this supports one side, the other side of the housing is usually just two tabs connected to the housing that are nailed right to the joist.
You may have to remove a larger chunk of drywall to get at the brackets.
