AboutMike Rogers Expertise I can answer pretty much any questions about metal: bands, genres, songs, etc.
Experience I am a life-long metal fan, I'm a guitarist in a metal band, I've been to a huge amount of concerts (including every Ozzfest) and have met a lot of famous metal musicians, including Phil Anselmo, Zakk Wylde, Ozzy Osbourne, Bruce Dickinson, Ronnie James Dio, Dee Snider, etc.
Education/Credentials I graduated from high school, but decided not to attend college to commit to my band full-time.

Question I am a huge metalcore fan and never liked any other form of metal. However I have become more open minded and while I still love metalcore I'm gradually getting into more advanced forms of metal Mainly Melodic Death Metal. However This is a very slow process As I continue to filter bands that don't appeal at all.. The only Melodic Death metal Bands I listen to are Nightrage, Deadlock, Mercenary, and Now added to the list is Dark tranquility. I have always heard of them and and heard there sound but never gave them a chance. I am completely obsessed with them now. As I'm obsessed with Melodies, keyboards, Synth. One Of my personal Fovorite melodic metalcore bands (was) Burn In Silence. My question is what other bands (metalcore and Melodic Death) have some of the most appealing melodies that sound like those 2 bands?(Dark Tranquility, Burn In Silence) I want to get into Melodic Death metal more but still listen to melodic metalcore. thanks for your help.
Answer First of all, sorry for taking long to answer.
Anyhow, I must agree, Dark Tranquility are GREAAAAAT! Personally, melodic death bands I enjoy are Amorphis (very melodic/atmospheric; has a lot of keyboards; Listen to the Elegy album and after, because their earlier stuff is straight death), Opeth (very complex, also melodic band), Children of Bodom (some call them metalcore, but their just very melodic death in my opinion), Amon Amarth, In Flames, Eternal Tears of Sorrow, The Haunted, Soilwork, and Carcass's Heartwork & Swansong albums (their earlier stuff is goregrind, not very melodic, lol).
Well, I hope I've been some help, and I hope this helps you become a bigger fan of melodic death metal. Oh yeah, and At The Gates's Slaughter of the Soul album was a HUGE influence on metalcore.
