I consider slipknot straight up catchy metal.  They definately don't show their black metal influences in their music and are far away from even being considered black metal(mayhem, immortal, diabolical masquerade, 1349, borknagar, dimmu borgir).  They definately show their death metal influence.

i think they are closer to metal core minus the amount of soloing but up there with killswitch and atreyu etc especially on psychosocial which in my opinion is amazing

I am a life-long metal fan, I'm a guitarist in a metal band, I've been to a huge amount of concerts (including every Ozzfest) and have met a lot of famous metal musicians, including Phil Anselmo, Zakk Wylde, Ozzy Osbourne, Bruce Dickinson, Ronnie James Dio, Dee Snider, etc.

Education/Credentials
I graduated from high school, but decided not to attend college to commit to my band full-time.
