Expert: Gaddy Yaari Date: 7/16/2008 Subject: Correct way to write Danielle in Hebrew
Question I have been researching my give name and have found several ways to write Danielle in Hebrew. I have found a modern version using the feminine form of Daniel(Daniela)written דניאלה but I have also found several other spellings using biblical Hebrew in which the vowel marking are switched on different letters for example דָּנִיאֵלָה and דָּנִיֵּאלָה. What would be the correct spelling for my name?
Answer Hi -
It's really up to you. In the old scheme of things, Daniel was a boy's name and Daniela was the feminine version. Now we have a third option, Danielle, which is becoming increasingly popular in Israel. The Hebrew spelling of Danielle is the same as Daniel - דניאל
