Question
QUESTION: Hello,
My daughter has been asked to sign her friend's kettubah but needs to know how to sign in Hebrew.  Her English name is Jane Frances, and her Yiddish name is Berta Fayga (after Berta and Frances).  Can you help both with the name itself and how it would be signed in Hebrew.  Thank you very much.

ANSWER: Ellen

Here it is: Berta Feyga = ברטה פייגה

Berta is spelled bet resh tet heh. Feyga is peh yod yod gimmel heh.

All the best,

QUESTION: She actually needs to write her full name with my and my
husband's names. My husband's name is Rafael and my name is
Ellen (Elka is my Hebrew name). Would she need to include a
last name? Thank you again for your help.

Answer
Ellen -

The last name is not used when signing the Kettubah. Your daughter will sign her name as Berta Feyga, and if the Rabbi wants to add the parents' names, she will add "baht Rafael v'Elka":

בת רפאל ואלקה
