Expert: roy perez - 4/29/2009

Question
Child of God. I was searching the web and saw the writing and would like to
know how it is written? I also saw the seven names of god, could you please
translate each one?

Answer
Hi Denise !
1-
rashi script is similar to to regular hebrew script .
If you can read Hebrew you won't have any problems reading the rashi script, because except for the somewhat  strange letters it's the same.
*http://www.schechter.org/sager/links/fifth/Rashi/RashiScript.html
links for Rashi script.

In israel only the religious jews are using the kind of writing when they read the "Tanah" (the bible) commentaries by Rashi (acronym  of "Rabi shlomo itzhaki")
2-
7 names of god  are :
A- צבאות = Tzeva'ot
B-  שדי = Shaday
C- אהיה = Aeheyeh
D- אלהים = Elohim
E- אלוה = Eloha
F- אל = El
G- אדו-ני /י-ה-ו-ה = considered the most sacred & holy name and when not used in Tfilah or Holy Scriptures , it is spelled with some hyphens.
