Question
Rabbi we would like to know our fathers hebrew name Harold  Rodnick. Thank you.

Answer
Hi Michael,

I'll do you one better: I'll give you both your Dad's Yiddish (Jewish) name, and his Hebrew name.

Most probably, your father's Yiddish name was Hirsch, which traditionally was Americanized to Harold (why? because both contain H and R). Now, Hirsch means 'deer'. The Hebrew equivalent is Tzvi, which is the Hebrew for 'deer'. The Hebrew spelling for Tzvi is Tzadi Beit Yod, צבי

Hope it helps,

Gaddy
