Question I was wondering if there are any visible differences between blood types besides the Rh factor?
Answer Hello Adam,
There are many different proteins that may or may not be expressed on the surface of red cells. Aside from ABO blood types and "Rh factor" there are many others as well. The "Rh factor" that you are talking about is referred to as the D antigen. There is a Rh family of antigens in addition to the D antigen. To name a few from the Rh family: C,c,E,e,f,cW. There are also other families as well including :
Kell group---K, k
Duffy group----FyA, FyB
M, N
S, s
Lewis---LeA, LeB
JkA, JkB
