Question
Hi, Can you tell me if the low result on my 4 year old's CBC is normal. I am also not sure if their recommended values are based on children, b/c with her CMP some values came up high or low b/c it was based on adults no children.  But anyway here they are:

WBC          6.6    x10^3    L-5.5     H-15.50
RBC          4.12   x10^6     L-3.80    H-5.50
hemoglobin       11.8   g/dl      L-9.5     H-15.50
hemactocratit     34.9   %        L-29.0    H-45.0
MCV          85    fl       L-76      H-86
MCH       LOW    28.6    pg       L-30.0    H-39.0
MCHC          33.8   g/dl      L-32.0    H-39.0
RDW          12.0    %        L-11.9    H-14.4
platelets        359    x10^3     L-136     H-432
MPV          9.4   fl        L-7.4     H-11.8

As you can see the MCH is low. What does this mean?

THanks,
Heidi

Answer
Hello Heidi!
Seeing the fact that all other values are within range except MCH, it could be simple iron/pyridoxine deficiency state. So give her iron rich diet and daily vitamin b-complex for 1 month. If she has any associated symptoms, you can contact me anytime!

Take care. Have a great day. Bye.
