Question
I was told by physian assistant that i would need a hemotolgy clearance before an upcoming hip replacement.why would i need a clearance for that?

Answer
Barry,
Yes hematological clearance is absolutely necessary to rule out any bleeding/thrombotic abnormalities, Hep B, HIV. They would need to do blood grouping in case if you require blood transfusion during surgery. Haematology clearance will also help surgeon to decide on post surgical anticoagulant therapy.

Thanking you!
