Question I heard somewhere that Jimi Hendrix' mother was Scottish by birth. Is this known to be true, and where was she born?

Jimi's mother was not Scottish.

Biography says;
Lucille(Jimi's mother) was one of eight children born to Preston Jeter
and his wife Clarice. Born in July 1875, Preston came from Richmond,
Virginia.He worked as a longshoreman and down the coal mines Whitesville,
just south of Charleston on the Coal River. .......
Their situation as a black couple was not uncommon-they had a large
family with little money coming in.
Lucille was born on 12 October 1925; she was very pale.
