Question
""Hello.I have much bloating and gas on a regular basis (I've had all medical tests done and there is no answer which is why I am seeking 'other' ways to help me)It doesn't come with stomach cramps but my poor belly is bloated and the flatulence is certainly not fun.I find when I do exercising the flatulence gets more frequent.I am looking for alternatives.I bought some fennel seed and peppermint tea 2 days ago as I read it will help but any options and ideas you can give me will be hugely appreciated. Thanks,Caroline""

Answer
Hi Caroline,

Yes, Fennel has been used for centuries to aid with gas, bloating issues. Peppermint tea will sooth the stomach.

A carminative is an herb that is used for expelling gas from the intestines.

Here are some of them: Steep for five-ten minutes, one ounce of dried herb, or two ounces of fresh herb in a half cup of boiling water.

Basil, Camomile, Caraway, Dill, Feverfew, Garlic, Ginger, Juniper, Lavender, Marjoram, Mint, Bee Balm, Nutmeg, Parsley, Savory, Thyme, & Wintergreen are all carminative herbs.

Try some of them out. Use one for a week after meals that bloat you. See which ones work best for you.

Also, Caroline. Keep a daily log of the foods you eat. See if you can spot the culprits, then eliminate them from your diet.

Best wishes,
Dennis
