Question
QUESTION: hi doc,i had a question regarding saw palmetto..i ve been taking a hairloss supplement called provillus which contains 1000mg of the dried fruit.i ve heard this amount is pretty low as compared to the extract of the same.can this amount of daily intake,i mean in recommended doses have any effect on brain fuctions or cognition?i am asking this question since i ve come across ppl using finasteride who ve complained of mental sides...is that possible with saw palmetto in recommended dosage?i ve been taking this for a year now...no problem till date...

ANSWER: Hi Soumya,

Saw Palmetto should be no problem. I just went to a site to view Provillus, and they said there were 1500 mg in it.

Just remember to discontinue usage, the moment you think that is is having an adverse affect on your health.

Is it helping?

Dennis

Answer
Here's an old herbal recipe.

HERBAL SHAMPOO

To prevent premature baldness, simmer 1/2 ounce of oil of Rosemary in a cup of water for 15 minutes. Strain and add liquid to 1/2 cup good quality castile shampoo. Use as you would any other shampoo. Rinse thoroughly.

Use sage if you wish to darken your hair.

As I said, this is old.

Best wishes,
Dennis
