Question
Can you recomend a herb that will reduce feeling of fullness and abdominal discomfort?
I use digestive enzymes which help.
I have tried ginger and fennel but they both caused a burning sensation and anal irritation.

Answer
Dear Barry,

I would try peppermint, either the essential oil or the tea and take some several times during the day. Some of your bitter herbs may also be helpful such as gentian or goldenseal. If there is any problem with the stomach lining that is contributing to excess mucus production (that could be contributing to the feeling of fullness), you may try aloe juice 3-6 oz daily as well as cabbage juice 2-4 oz daily. They can even be mixed together. As for the burning sensation, you may consider undertaking a program to reduce potential excessive tissue acidity. There are several good ones listed on the web and I would find one that best suits my ability to do. It would not hurt and could possible help a lot. I hope that this helps.

Healthfully yours,
