About Kristy Watkins
Expertise
I can answer many questions asked by first time crab owners on feeding, caging, care, keeping, sexing the crabs, decorating the tank, etc. I can answer questions on possible illnesses (although I am not a vet, I have experienced first hand many of the illnesses hermit crabs get and have been able to successfully deal with them all). I can not answer questions on euthenasia or breeding because I haven't euthenised any of my crabs, and they don't mate in captivity. I generally get online every night, so most questions are answered the same day.

Experience
4 years of owning hermit crabs, over 300 hours of research on many subjects relating to them.

Education/Credentials
none

Question
Hi again , sorry i had to send another message but i mean a heater that goes under the tank and even though the heat rock won't help can i still put it in? thanks!

Answer
If you just bought it, I would take it back to exchange towards the cost of the new heater, but if you've had it too long to return, you CAN put it in the tank on the side that the under the tank heater is NOT on, so that way even if the crab doesn't want to be on that side of the tank, he can still get warmed up real quick if he needs to by getting on the rock, but be sure the package says it's okay to use in humid tanks, otherwise, the high humidity could short it out making it stop working or possibly hurt your crabs.
