Question
Hi my name is Q I'm male, I'm Thai and I live in Thailand. I am 15 and studying in an international school in Thailand(grade 10).Next year, I'm going to the U.S. as an exchange student for grade 11 for 1 year. I have one sister, she went there before for 1 year and came back. She enjoyed her life there and there is nothing wrong. But I'm kinda worry about what is high school in the U.S. will be like.I watch this show on TV and umm it shows high school as being crazy,a lot of bullies, and a fight in the school especially I'm small Asian and like 165 cm tall. I don't know how can I fit in with them. I'm not kind of a popular one. My sister suggests me to play some sports so i can talk to people more. i've play many sports in my life, but im suck at it. i usually play soccer, but not often. How can i fit into them, i hear that they like (American)football, but i'm small and dont know how to play.... what can I do, everyday im so worry about this. I cant imagine what it will be like next year. thanks for an advice.

Answer
Hey buddy,

Seriously, I know how cliche it sounds, but just be yourself.  All those weird high school stereotypes don't even really exist anymore: and wherever you go, you're going to find friends.  So what if they're not guys who like football?  Find friends that are best for you, not the other way around.  Just be friendly to everyone you come across and let them know you're a nice guy.

Good luck man!

Expertise

Finishing off my second year of Uni, I have been through it all. High school wasn't very long ago and it had a huge impact on my life- for the better, definitely. I can answer anything from relationship problems to self image issues. I have been to many schools and I know how hard it is to make friends and want nothing more than to be accepted. I've learned patience and acceptance and I just want to help you guys out in any way I can =) Ask away!

Experience

I have been a camp counselor several times in the past. Whenever some of the kids I was looking after had a problem they came to me to help work it out.

Organizations
Not really religious, but I help out the community church down the road by playing saxophone and piano for them whenever they put on a production. Montreal Chess Association, College Basketball Team.

Education/Credentials
High School Diploma, Various Language and History Awards, Currently working on a Bachelor's Degree.

Awards and Honors
I'm an Honor Role student and I received the top academic award for my grade in my senior year (the Dux award).
