High School Life/feeling 'maybe im not like them'
Expert: Trevor - 4/13/2009
Questionhi, i have many friends at school.
close with some of them, not so close.
im not the type of guy people dislike, im pretty friendly towards most people.
i have a problem, and have been having this problem for a while now. im 16 years of age and began to feel like 'maybe im not like them', them refering to my friends.
i like art, music, nature and things. my friends like other things. there isnt anyone in my year or school that is really like me. like the things i like in art "abstract expressionism" not even my art teacher understands, and the music i like in particular, a couple of people like..
my closer friends bitch about people so much, it really gets to me because they spend more time pissed off than enjoying the time as friends that we have.
im different, in a good or bad way im not sure about. im looking forward to after school in hope for making friends from the career path similar to mine. in hope we can share interests and what not.
is something wrong with me? or am i looking at the negative side to things?
please help me. thanks in advance.
AnswerHey Andrew, thanks for the question! No need to worry about thinking that there is something wrong with you, because there is definitely NOTHING wrong with you! And no, you are not looking at the negatives, you are looking out for YOU! I am the same way, I don't like to hear people bitch about things, its not me. Best thing to do in those situations is to just walk away from them. I like a different type of music also! Which there is nothing wrong with it! People have different tastes in music, as well as in art. I am not an art type of person and seeing as I had no clue what "abstract expressionism" was, I had to look it up. There is nothing wrong with liking that type of art, if I had to choose, my favorite art type would be Typography! Not many people like that type either you see. But I hope I have helped you understand that there is nothing wrong with you and you are completely normal and that your not looking at the negative side of things!
