Expertise
Being a senior in high school, I have been through it all. High school's been the best and worst years of my life. I can answer anything from relationship problems to self image issues. I have been to many schools and I know how hard it is to make friends and want nothing more than to be accepted. I've learned patience and acceptance and I just want to help you guys out in any way I can =) Ask away!

Experience
I have been a camp counselor several times in the past. Whenever some of the kids I was looking after had a problem they came to me to help work it out.

Organizations
Not really religious, but I help out the community church down the road by playing saxophone and piano for them whenever they put on a production.

Education/Credentials
I'm a senior in high school and therefore have first hand knowledge of the subject.

Awards and Honors
I'm an Honor Role student and I received the top academic award for my grade last year (the Dux award).

Question
Hi,

I have just started high school, and I am finding it hard to deal with all the things to do. I am a good student, and have never had trouble academically, but now, I'm struggling to organise myself; did i get the payment in? Have I got that form in? Where's my library card? etc.

Now, not only has my organisation gone out the window, but my marks are getting worse as well. I never seem to have time anymore. I study but even so I have not been my best.

My parents are starting to worry, I am starting to worry.

HELP!!!

Thanks in advance,
Daniel.

Answer
Hey man,

Don't worry, same thing happened to me when I started high school and it happened again this year when I started Uni.  Eventually you'll get the feel for the system and be able to work it though.  It's pretty standard for people to be confused and overloaded with the new workload that comes with bumping up a level in education.  By this time next year though, you'll be working the system to your advantage.

I always find it easiest to sit down and suss out what I'm going to do. Work out what you need the most work in and set a time in advance that you're gonna study it so you're prepared mentally (I know how boring study can be.  I'm meant to be studying right now and I'm on here answering questions haha).  Finish easiest projects first (if they're all due on the same date, because then you build your confidence level), and just do short spurts of study for like an hour and a half- two hours each.  Try and make it so you have something to look forward to at the end (like a movie or something).

Also you might wanna make a list of all the stuff you have to do in that week (eg- hand project in Friday, study for the test on Tuesday). Nothing's more satisfying than ticking those things off that seemed so daunting in your mind till you wrote them down.

But mostly, don't worry!  We all go through it and you're gonna adapt and learn to handle it, just like we all had to.

Good luck bro!
Dan
