Expertise
Being a senior in high school, I have been through it all. High school's been the best and worst years of my life. I can answer anything from relationship problems to self image issues. I have been to many schools and I know how hard it is to make friends and want nothing more than to be accepted. I've learned patience and acceptance and I just want to help you guys out in any way I can =) Ask away!

Experience
I have been a camp counselor several times in the past. Whenever some of the kids I was looking after had a problem they came to me to help work it out.

Organizations
Not really religious, but I help out the community church down the road by playing saxophone and piano for them whenever they put on a production.

Education/Credentials
I'm a senior in high school and therefore have first hand knowledge of the subject.

Awards and Honors
I'm an Honor Role student and I received the top academic award for my grade last year (the Dux award).

Question
Hello,
My name is Bryanna, and I am going into grade nine into a brand new school, with completely new people and completely new teachers and surroundings. I am trying to figure out how to give the right first impression. Because I am going into a school without any of my friends, I want to know how to make a good lasting impression on the right people, so that I can make it into the right groups.

Just a little history:
I am a straight A student who hasn't had very good luck with getting into groups of friends who are as good in school as I am. I am strong willed, and I stand up for people who deserve it. I have no patience for people on drugs or who are interested in gang stuff. I love school and I spend a lot of time working on my school work.

Usually I am the one to confront people when we first meet. Should I be waiting for other people to confront me first? Every time I have confronted people first, I have met the wrong type of people that I want to hang out with. People with crappy marks that end up pulling me down.

I'm sorry that I kind if threw a bunch of questions at you, but hopefully you can help me answer these questions!

Thanks for your help (please don't send my pic to anyone else)
Bryanna!

Answer
Heya

Well you're going into 9th grade, I assume that means you're gonna be starting high school?  That means it's a good idea to be kinda discrete till you start fitting in.  High school's just a big puzzle and you gotta find out where your piece slots in.  If you screw up impressions at the very beginning, it can be hard to drag yourself back up because everyone assesses what stereotype or 'click' they fit into in like the first week.

Not to worry though, just keep your discretion about you.  Be friendly, talk to people, just don't confront people (I'm not entirely sure what you mean by 'confront' 'cause I've always taken that to imply aggression).  But yeah, smile a lot and laugh a lot- basically just let people know you're open and a fun person to be around.  Don't worry too much about your friends- just 'cause they don't do well doesn't mean you can't =)

Anyways, good luck with everything, let me know how things go,
All the best amigo!
Dan

P.S. And lol don't worry I wouldn't send your pic around haha
