High speed internet access - ISP Provider

Expert: Bob Waltenspiel - 5/14/2004

Question
Hi there - I am contemplating getting connected to the internet at home. But which ISP shall I choose? I hope someone can give me sound advice. Looking forward to your replies

Answer
Edward,

I assume you are looking for high speed.

In my area (Michigan), I basically have three choices that I personally would use. Comcast and WOW (Cable) and SBC (DSL). Bundled with TV, the cable modem is roughly $40 per month, and SBC DSL is roughly $30 per month. Both will get you where you need to go.

I would suggest after installing high speed that you purchase a personal firewall (I use Norton) for roughly $50. Otherwise, your system will get swamped with viruses, spyware, etc.

Hope this helps!
