Question We have recently become dissatisfied with our current DSL provider (Verizon) because of some customer service issues. We would like to take our business away from them, but are not sure what route to go. We were thinking about getting Direct Way Sattelite service, but we do not know much about it. Do you know if it is reliable? Does it go out of service often? We are on the top of a very large hill and I am afraid that storms might knock us offline too often. Any information you might have on this system would be greatly appreciated. Also if you think something might be better than either this or DSL or another DSL service, please let me know. Thank You for your help. Joe Valente
Answer Joe,
DSL is a strange animal because in some areas, you can be rock solid, and in others, very unstable. If you are getting bad service from Verizon, you will get back service from everyone (DSL wise).
I would stay far away from Satellite service, it is extremely unreliable.
If you can get cable or business cable access, I would go with that.
You can get Fractional T1 service from a provider such as Allegiance Telecom, but you are looking at $280 per month.
