Abouthlndr Expertise I can answer questions about Highlander: The Series' episodes, cast, characters, time lines, etc. As well as direct you to informative web sites, sites where other fans hang out and fun sites like fan-fiction sites, role playing game sites, etc. I don't have much knowledge of the Highlander movies but I have access to a wealth of information through my online sources. I also cannot and will not answer any questions regarding the personal lives of the actors.
Experience I have been an obsessed fan of the series since it first aired on television. I own every episode from all 6 seasons. I belong to several fan based groups on the Internet, participate in one email style, one forum style and one live action style Highlander role playing game as well as "own" (moderator/director) a live action style RPG of my own. I also dabble in writing fan-fiction stories based on the series.
Education/Credentials I am a high school graduate and graduated from a private vocational school as a certified Paramedic.
Question I'd thought that the intro to the first few episodes of the highlander tv series mentioned that each immortal gained the knowledge(and presumably memories) and power of every Immortal he beheaded. Maybe I was wrong, but one thing's for sure, Duncan MacLeod clearly is never shown as actually remembering the memories of hostile Immortals he has beheaded, nor has he ever seemingly displayed any of the powers or abilities of those beheaded Immortals - and the later episodes only seem to refer to the Immortals' power being transmitted by the Quickening, I think. Did the series eventually just discard the notion of an Immortal's knowledge/abilities/memories being transmitted by the quickening, or are the other Immortals' knowledge and abilities only supposed to be, finally, transmitted to the last Immortal when he gets the Prize?

Answer In the episode Something Wicked (season 4) Duncan receives a Dark Quickening which is explained as what happens when an Immortal receives more Quickenings from evil Immortals than he can handle and the evilness takes him over. In the episode Haunted (season 5) Richie receives a Quickening that leaves him with the memories of the man's love for his wife. In the movie Endgame Connor forces Duncan to kill him so he will have Connor's strength and power combined with his own so he will be able to defeat Jacob Kell. So as the seasons progressed more things were explained. The only thing the writers dropped (in hopes it would be forgotten) was that an Immortal could feel when another Immortal was killed (as in the episode Innocent Man in season 1). I hope this answers your question. If you have anymore please feel free to ask. Watch you head and remember....there can be only one. :D
