Question i dont know if this is the place to ask but my horse has a lump on his leg it feels like it has fluid in it it is just below the knee i didnt notice it was there but some one elese saud that its been there all his life and that he did not knwo what it was. could you possibaly help me determin what it could be? tghank you Brandi2me
Answer That would be too difficult to diagnose without seeing, but lumps can come from many sources. Bruises, of course, and horses can get ganglion cysts (like people do on their wrists), splinters or other foreign bodies or insect bites, infections or abscesses (pus pockets) or simple little fatty tumors.
If it doesn't bother the horse, you might ignore it, but I would have a vet check it out the next time he comes out for shots or whatever, or sooner, if the lump is changing or interfering with your horse's gait or comfort.
