About Summer Summer Lei Shidler Expertise I have been watching both Highlander: The Series and Forever Knight since they began airing. I have every episode of both series on tape, and have watched them more times than I can count. I know the history of most of the characters and I have the Watcher Chronicles CD in two versions, so anything I don`t know offhand, I can look up. I can answer questions about plots, characters, episodes and some cast members.
Question Can you give me all the information you can about immortals? I'd like to make an immortal character for a role playing game, but I don't have the knowledge for it.........All I know about is the head cutting off thing....please help me out.
Answer Well, "all" is alot, so why don't I give you some basics, and you can grow your character from there. As evidenced by 6 seasons of Highlander, Immortals come in every shape and size, so as long as you follow some basic guidelines, you can develop a unique character that suits you.
1. All immortals are foundlings. They are generally raised by a family, but some are raised by other immortals, hermits, or even cults. Noone is sure how they come into the world, but they are not "born" in the human manner.
2. Immortals are part of a worldwide (perhaps universal) conflict to determine a final victor who will receive unnamed powers and cool stuff. In the original movie, Connor is the last immortal, and he seems to get some sort of "universal knowledge." This is not elaborated on (in fact, it's mainly ignored) in the tv series.
3. Immortals can only be killed by completely removing their head from their body. A sword is not required, but most immortals prefer to use that method, plus, it looks cool when they fight. Most wounds to immortals heal quickly, but if a hand/limb is completely severed, it will not regrow. It also seems that deep neck wouds do not heal fully, perhaps because of the head-removal clause.
4. Each Immortal carries inside him/her a store of energy, which consists of both their personal power (accrued through age and fighting skill) and the power of any immortals they have killed. When an immortal is killed, this energy (the Quickening) goes to the nearest living immortal (not necessarily always the immortal who did the killing).
5. All living immortals are assigned a Watcher, a human who follows them and documents their life without revealing their presence. The Watchers are kept to a strict code of secrecy, although some have broken the rules and developed friendsjhips and even relationships with their immortal.
6. Immortals do not become "immortal" until they are "killed" for the first time. Active Immortals can sense "passives" and will try to locate them and train them (usually to their own benefit). Because they are technically human during their first life, they can be killed in any of the many ways humans die, and therefore they can become immortal at any age.
7. Immortals (even passive ones) cannot bear children. They are human only in appearance, and although they can apparently go through the motions, intercourse will never result in a child. Some immortals adopt children or marry humans with children to compensate for this.
That's all the major stuff, let me know if you have any more questions.
