About Quink Expertise I can answer most questions about the show, the actors and characters. I also run a collection of over 1600 highlander links and I`ve carefully gone through all of them. If I don`t know something off the top of my head, I usually know where to find it. I`ve watched Highlander since 1992 when it started, and I`ve been on the internet for a year and a half. In that time I`ve visited many of the HL pages out there. As for the show, I`ve watched every episode several times and I belong to a trivia group that over the past year has covered even the most obscure facts about the show
Question Although I`ve been a fan for a long time, a newcomer asked me how Watcher`s are chosen, and what are the rules governing them? I wasn`t sure, other than it`s a secret society and the immortals aren`t even supposed to know about them, right? Are there any good Watcher sites out there? Do you know if The Watcher Chronicles on CD ROM is still available anywhere?
Thanks so much for your help!
Joy (I actually AM from the Clan MacLeod!)
Answer Hi Joy. I'll do my best to answer, but it's not something they really went into detail about on the show. As far as being chosen, it seems that you're either a part of a watcher family (Amy Thomas from 'Indiscretions' where her mother was a watcher) or you somehow stumble across the secret of immortality, as Joe did when he lost his legs. As far as rules, they state that they are there, but again they've never given us details, other than 'observe, record and never interfere'. There seems to be quite a bit of structure within the organization (Some watchers are higher up than others) and they have a Watcher academy, where they learn to do what they do. We know that they clean up after their messes if they make a mistake, and have no problem killing people to do it. Other than that, not much is known (A strong argument for a watcher spin-off *g*) As far as watcher sites, I can't think of any that would have the type of information you're looking for... there are watcher sites out there, but they mostly feature bios of immortals, rather than information on the organization. You may want to try one of the sites listed on my information page (http://www.darkmage.net/quink/quinkslinks/information.html) under Highlander Canon. Most of those have general info on the show, including the watchers.
As for the watcher's CD, the official Highlander site (http://www.highlander-official.com) says that it is available exclusively when you buy the season five set of tapes. Maybe you can get one second hand? Anyway, sorry I wasn't able to be much help here, but if you have any other questions, I'd be more than happy to answer :-)
