Meditation can be performed anywhere. Most important is connection to God/Godess and clean surroundings. If one sees God/Godess everywhere and follows correct principles in life, certainly one will reach a higher lok after this life ends. But for attaining enlightenment/Brahmgyan, one needs to follow the path of gyanyog and/or karmyog and be patient because it cannot be guaranteed if one achieves that in present janm (life cycle).
