Question
namaskar,
sir is an avatara nirvikalpa by birth ?or he/she also progresses spritually to get that state?
thank you!

Answer
Dear Samit,

Thank you for your question.

The Avatara, God Incarnate, is a great mystery. We are told that Incarnations are born with full knowledge of their true nature, which ultimately is nirvikalpa. In the case of Sri Ramakrishna we saw he attained samadhi spontaneously as a child when he saw white cranes flying across a dark storm cloud. The spiritual practices of Avataras, therefore, are done for the sake of the world.

Best wishes,
